Geology question? 10 points?
No, I don't know if you know this, but basaltic magma is of a type called mafic (magnesium, feldpsar, and silica, which is very low). The low silica content make these very runny magmas. If you see an eruption of hawaii, the magmas flow very fast when hot, almost like water. On the otehr hand, rhyolitic magmas (felsic = feldspar and silica, with HUGE amounts of silica) have a high silica content (making very white to grey) rocks, which are very thick to move. The magma is not weak enough to let gases though, and the eruption is very violent and explosive (mt st helens)
